01I knew the problem. Personally.
The complexity. The workload. The prices of highly specialised people who focus entirely on this work. I'd seen what it cost entrepreneur friends in money, time and frustration. My father, too.
Then it was my turn: I had to catch up on three years of bookkeeping, financial statements and tax work for my German UG and GmbH. The tax advisers I contacted either declined or quoted more than €30,000 for the two companies combined.
02Self-funded. With little room to spare.
I mainly fund my companies myself. There are plenty of other costs. I'd put the work off because the expense was too high. I was waiting for VC funding. It never came.
That was the critical point: I needed a way to get my companies back under my own control.
03So I started building.
AI had become much more capable in the meantime. Around GPT 5.6, I felt it had reached the level I needed to tackle complex German tax work. I began developing ClariDDy for myself.
After roughly two months, I'd built a version that had completed the tax work for both companies: returns, financial statements, signatures, ERiC transmissions and statutory disclosures — covering more than three years.
